So, what is Just Us Too? This blog site is my space to talk about what it means to seek justice for other animals.
The way I think about it, our relationship with the rest of nature has been changed irrevocably by events over the past 10,000 years. During that time, we humans have invented civilisation and agriculture, learned how to harness technology and fossil fuels, and grown in number to over eight billion.
Where once we shared the planet is something like an equitable relationship, things are very different now. Nowadays in too many ways we regard other animals as things for us to use however we want and the effects of that ripple across the planet and every ecosystem. Of course, we can’t go back to how things were, but maybe we can be fairer than that?
It seems to me that we should want justice for our fellow species. What might that look like? That’s the 64 million dollar question, but I boil it down to the idea that whenever we can we should aim to treat other animals as though they have the same basic rights we do – the rights to be free, in charge of their own lives and not to be treated cruelly.
And that’s what my blog is about. I’ll be talking about ways we can tackle this problem together, just us seeking justice for the rest of the species too.
I hope you find my ideas thought-provoking.

Very thoughtful and thought provoking pieces. You should trim some down and seek wider publication

I have considered that p, though I am a little hesitant because while I’ve researched the topics, I am not confident that my research is good enough to withstand intense scrutiny. I’d hate to publish more broadly and get pilloried for getting some numbers wrong. perhaps the answer is to trim back the numbers part of the argument… or do better research!
